Three Paneled Leather Screen with Embossed Back

This is a beautiful 2 sided, 3 panel leather screen from France. One side is flat and consists of paint on leather, while the other side is embossed paint on leather. The flat sides are classical Louis XVI decor with garlands of flowers, central bouquets of flowers, cartouches, c and s scrolls, acanthus leaves, and womens faces. Colors are very muted in pale golds, oranges, forest greens, and teals. The opposite side is embossed painted leather of stylized shells and varying types of foliage. The colors are rusts, oranges, teals, dark greens and metallic golds. French nailheads affix both sides to a wooden framework.

Recently, we seperated the screen into 3 INDIVIDUAL pcs. Overall, each section is in good condition with only minor repairs needed. It is from the late 1800's or earlier. It could be put back together as a screen or it could be now used as 3 individual wall hangings.
