This lyre is constructed from old iron, and a relatively new cast stone base. Lyres are stringed musical instruments which were often used in classical antiquity and later. This impressive French iron musical lyre is mounted into a stone base, which has been decorated at its top center with a circle of rounded leaves and berries. It could be used on its own as a wonderful accessory, as a music sheet carrier, or a bookholder inside or outside the home.
