Circa 1900. This antique, square, walnut wood dish container from Provence could also be used as an indoor decorative planter for a potted plant, or a decorative small pet bed if you were to add cushions.  It has ornamentation of shells, flowers, scrolling leaves and turned spindles on all sides.

Condition:  Minor losses to varnished finish and wood;  rubs and nicks to wood
