From the Gien Factory in France, the “Fond Bleu” faience “Serre Chaude” (Hot Plate) in the Rennaissance Pattern features all the motifs used by its original creator, Adrien Thibault of the Gien Factory. This particular piece was created in 1934 as designated by the impressed marks on the back. Mr. Thibault drew his inspiration for the design from the Italian Renaissance Period, featuring chimera, rinceau, putti and more, originally on a white background which is now very rare. The blue and brownish/black backgrounds followed at a later date.
This pristine Gien hot plate will highlight any Gien collection.
