Gien Platter-Italien Thibault 1933

20 1/8 x 15

Marked on Back:  Gien Stamp,  Italian Thibault, Impressed Initials CL over I for 1933, February and the Artist  - Very Good Condition – Very Minor Rubs to Bottom. **Please note the white mark showing on the photos of the platter is our flash-not a defect.

From the Gien Factory in France, this “fond blue”   faience platter in the Renaissance Pattern features all the motifs used by its original creator, Adrien Thibault of the Gien Factory.  This particular platter was created in 1933 as designated by the impressed marks on the back.  Mr. Thibault drew his inspiration for the design from the Italian Renaissance Period, featuring chimera, rinceau, putti and more, originally, on only a white background, which is now very rare.  The blue and brownish/black backgrounds followed at a later date.

This pristine Gien platter will highlight any Gien collection

.(we also have a Hot Plate from the same maker/same design available)
