This antique Italian tabletop box has been very finely hand carved out of fruitwood and has a gilded glaze similar to Vernis Martin.  It has a hinged top with cherub finial surrounded by draping, a qiver with arrows and a shell on a conforming case. The case has been decorated with allegorical scenes with cherubs in cartouches depicting seasons. The interior has been lined with silk velvet.

Condition: Minor losses to two legs; one wing missing to top cherub; age separations to four corners.  Age: Mid to Late 1800s
