A French Octagonal Faience Platter- Marked Rouen to Back – Previous Restorations – Re-Edition of a Museum Piece -20th C.

The back is marked Rouen, hand painted, with the initials JFAE in a certain sequence.  Rouen was known in the 17th C. as the most important center for the production of exquisite faience. The hand painting on this platter is done in the colors historically used in Rouen.

There is a center field with a basket of flowers.  The border is rimmed with vines of flowers and vegetation, all done in the colors used by the Rouen factory.
