An 18th C. French Gothic Style Tabernacle (Vessel for holding the Eucharist) Hand Carved from European Oak- Stripped.  Age:   1700’s

This beautifully hand carved antique French Gothic style Tabernacle has all the ornamentation of the French Gothic Period.  What is so exceptional about this Tabernacle is the skill with which the hand carved ornamentation has been done, some of which is very finely detailed and small. (See Photos) This tabernacle has been stripped at some point in its history, with traces of gesso still showing .  The interior of the door has portions of layers of material, then paper, and a painted surface beneath the paper.
This exceptional French tabernacle will be a rare addition to any collection.
