A Fine Pair of 19th Century French Bronzes
Patinated Bronze Dore and Bronze
The original owner of these spectacular pieces was Mrs. Aldridge, the daughter of Mr. Munger that founded Munger Place in Dallas. Mrs Aldridge displayed these in her home on Swiss Avenue up until her death, she was also the President of The Dallas French Club.
Upon her death they were inherited by her daughter Mrs. Gertrude Aldridge Shelborne who bequeathed them to a long time friend Lucien Leinfelder a well know Dallas artist and concert pianist whom Mrs Shelborne sponsored through his education at Juliard and his performances in Europe and Carnegie Hall.
Recently, we were approached with an opportunity to acquire these for our showroom. Prior to us, the bronzes have been in Mr. Leinfelders home for the past 40 years. Apparently Mrs. Aldridge purchased these at a Christies Auction House in Paris in the 1930's. They were most likely originally made in the 1800's. They are in excellent condition and the fine chasing is remarkable. Each one weighs over 40lbs. This pair would be well suited to anyone who appreciates fine antique bronzes and or has an interest in Dallas Society history.
