An Antique French Hand Carved Family Coat of Arms –Good Antique Condition – Missing he bottom area or motto and a portion of the mantling on the upper right.

The antique hand carved French Coat of Arms has a crest in the shape of a sword with human face at its top(swords can be symbols of justice and military honor),  mantling of a bishop’s mitre(symbol of authority), to the left and a portion of a carving , most of it missing, to the right.  The shield is in the shape of a cartouche surrounded by pierced rocaille acanthus leaves .  At the helm, is a helmet which we think is the helmet with a necklace carrying a round drop, signifying “ennobled”.  To the left of the main part of the shield in a c-scroll is a griffon meaning one who does not rest until the objective is achieved.  To the right is a c-scroll depicting ornamention of gadrooning leaves and a series of curved lines,
