Antique French Biscuit Bonbonniere (Container for Holding Candy)
Bronze Dore Hardware –Printed on Bottom Porcelainerie de la H”V” Limoges, France – Very Good Antique Condition – Minor tarnish to bronze dore rims and latch - Circa 1900. This piece has exquisite ornamentation. It is biscuit, which is unglazed porcelain, and in relief are cherubs and putti at play. The lid, top of the body and latch are rimmed in Louis XVI style bronze dore trim.
Limoges was and still is known for a considerable group of factories. The word Limoges appears on porcelain from the 2nd half of the 1800’s through the 1900’s. The majority of the marks are stenciled or printed, while earlier, (18th Century) wares tended to be hand-written. H”V” is probably Haute-Vienne or the high region of Limoges.
