Imposing Pair of Elaborately Carved Italian Panels
These panels were constructed around the turn of the 19th/20th century. The panels have been faux painted to resemble burled walnut or mahogony wood. The hand carving is deep and intricate, and they depict musical instruments and heraldic crests with a touch of Louis XVI style seen in the bow and rope. Some would also call this style "Trophy". The reverse of the panels has a florid perimeter enclosing plain panels. Condition Report---Scattered shrinkage cracks and small losses around the edges. Carving is in fine condition. Finish mottled on both. Scattered raised veneer. Please contact us if you need more photos.
