Antique Provencal Window with Frame and Shutter

Cast and Hand Wrought Iron and Mixed Woods Frame – Good Antique Condition Commensurate with Age – Rusting to Iron; Weathering and Rubs to Painted Wood  - Circa 1850 or Older

This charming and versatile antique Provencal shuttered (originally painted that famous “French blue”) window gate was originally used as a window providing security (the wooden framed decorative gate), as well as protection from the elements, (the shutter). 

Today, they are still used for these  purposes, in addition to a variety of decorative purposes:  as a decorative wall architectural hanging; or,  hung anywhere with dried flowers hanging from the ironwork;   or, by adding iron candleholders to the wood, and used as decorative wall sconces;  or, as a false shuttered window.  This versatile shuttered window gate will bring a touch of Provence to your home.
