19th C. Architectural Element Mounted on Stand

An Antique French Painted Louis XIV/Regence Transitional Style Architectural Fragment- Mounted on Iron Stand – 19th C. Condition:  Minor loss of  leaf motif
This antique architectural fragment features the upper portion of what would have been a complete wooden panel for a room.  Motifs were often borrowed from campanes (runner ends) for these panels.  This one has the five-leaf stylized shell with fleur-de-lys tips and a raised wooden outline of the shell to give shadow and depth to it.  To either side is scrolling symmetrical rinceaux or acanthus c-scroll motifs with banding connecting more acanthus leaf c-scrolls and florets.  The patterned ground is diaper ground with florets.
This beautiful mounted antique French architectural would be perfect in contemporary settings on plexiglass or glass stands, cubes or  square tables as well as on any piece in a traditional setting.
