Painted Architectural Steer Head Panel from France |
This piece once hung outside the store frontage of a French butcher shop. We believe it is from the late 1800's. The bull head is cast iron. At the center of the panel is a cast iron long horned steer with a ring in his nose. His halter is a surround of leaves with a cluster of grapes flanked by two grape leaves. There are two large iron eyelets with a wire for hanging attached to the upper molding. Condition: Chips and rubs to paint, wood, and cast iron |
