17th Century Antique Carved Armorial Oak Panel |
A 17th C. Hand Carved Oak Armorial Panel found in France– Age Separations to wood; Rubs and nicks to wood commensurate with age – Late 1600’s to Early 1700’s. Found in France, this aristocratic armorial panel has been hand carved from European Oak. Dating back to the late 1600’s or early 1700’s, it features an oval charge of a rampant lion flanked by griffin supporters beneath a coronet. A mask is centered at the bottom center between two scrolling vines. The arms have been confirmed as those of Theodore Agrippa d'Aubigne (of Anjou),1552-1630, a French poet and soldier. This magnificent armorial panel will be an attribute to any collection. |
