Hand Carved Antique Stone Architectural Piece

150-200 years old; Haute Garrone

This antique French stone fragment in the form of a stylized fleur-de-lis comes from the Haute Garrone Region in France where St. Bertrand de Cominges is located, which has an archeological site founded by the Roman general Pompey in 72 B.C.; Lourdes, where Bernadette Soubirous saw the miraculous apparitions; and several spa towns are located due the the sulphur waters of the region.

The front of the stone fragment bears a four sided indented floral form which also forms a cross at the center where the reliefs of the petals rise. The round outer edge has been carved to form three separate fleur-de-lis motifs .  The bottom is flat.  This stone fragment can stand on its own as a wonderful piece of French history.

Condition:  Minor chipping to stone;  wear to relief portion  of central flower.
