A Pair of French Parcel Paint, Cast Plaster Medallion Plaques on Framed Wooden Panel – 20th C. Very Good Condition – Chipping to paint and wood to portray age.

This pair of French parcel paint cast plaster bas reliefs  is in the form of a cartouche with a central relief of a basket of beautiful flowers and vines.  It has been applied upon a framed, raised wooden panel with chipped white paint throughout. 

These versatile French plaques, found in Provence, can be hung on a wall or mounted in a holder as an accessory.  Originally these framed plaques would have been used as decorative overdoor panels in a painted wooden paneled room, or boiserie.
