Bookcase from the Frontage of a Lit Clos

This bookcase was constructed from the frontage of a lit clos. The material is chestnut wood, and we believe it be built in the early 1900's. It's in very good condition! Please note that the back of the bookcase is OPEN. A "lit-close" was a multi-functioning piece of furniture used in old France. It would serve as the armoire, bed, cabinet, and trunk. The bed would be enclosed by the sliding door, making sleeping a bit more comfortable and private in the old stone rooms.
