Period Regence Triple Armoire from Normandy
Ebeniste’s Stamp-Provenance of a Chateau in Neufchatel-En-Bray
A Rare Period French Regence (1700-1730) Triple Crowned Armoire –Ebineste’s Initials inside Chateau Stamp - Provenance from a Chateau in Neufchatel-en-Bray, France. Very Good Antique Condition – Glass in Central Section replaced with screening at some point in its history.
This rare, stamped, period French Regence, triple crowned 3 -door armoire has provenance from a Chateau in Neufchatel-en-Bray. The cabinet maker’s initials are inside the Chateau Stamp in triplicate on the inside of the left hand door. This was custom made in the early 1700’s for this particular chateau. The town is in the northern area of the Normandy region of France.
The central cabinet of this piece is higher and deeper than the two side cabinets, with its cornice acanthus leaf carving continuing around either side to the back.
