Regence Style Pine Deux Corps Armoire
Late 1700's
An Antique 18th Century, French Normandie European Pine Deux Corps, Regence Style. Condition commensurate with age -some restoration - hole drilled into back for electrical wires- hardware is old brass, but not original to piece. Late 1700's.
This stately antique French Deux Corps was once used to store linens. Today, as in this piece, they are used for TV's and their componants, as well as for storage. The simple lines of this deux corps make it suitable for mixing with any style. The moldings on the doors are c-scolls and circles, typical of early Normandie cabinetmakers. The center is fluted and attached to the left hand doors, so there is no fixed center post, making ideal for big screen tv's.
Few French European pine pieces survived from the 1700's, so this is a treasured piece for any discerning buyer.
