French Commode Chair, Late 1800's

You are looking at a French antique Louis XV style childs commode chair with a caned framed back. It is made of Chestnut wood, and is in good condition-circa 1880.

This charming childs chair from France was originally used with a bidet, which would have been inserted into the hinged seat top. Now, they are used simply as a childs seat, or a holder for plants, toys, and blankets. The chair has charming florets and scrolling sunflower carvings.
