–Walnut Wood – Very Good Condition – Late 1800’s

These French Louis XIII style walnut wood chairs have been upholstered with hand done needlepoint panels.  The surround of the panels is in a rich burgundy and the field is that of stylized acanthus leaves and scrolling foliage.  There are griffins and French dolphins playing throughout the foliage.  The carving of the wood is deep and intricate with fielded backgrounds, trailing foliage beading and acanthus leaves on the arms.  The turned baluster shaped legs rest upon H shaped stretchers and ball feet.

These magnificent chairs were found in the Loire Valley of France.
