A Pair of Antique French Louis XV Style Painted Bergeres with Pale Green Silk Upholstery – Good Antique Condition – Upholstery needs restoration on arm pads – no seat cushions- Late 1800’s or older
This pair of antique painted Louis XV style French bergere armchairs were originally used for comfort in a salon room of the chateau or in the boudoir. They would be low and deep with in-filled arms, coved backs, and cushions of feathers supported by webbing. This pair has a rounded back (arrondi) with floral cresting which is mimicked on the seat rail and arms. The upholstery is attached with brass nailheads throughout. The painted wood is probably original and is an oyster color that has aged with time.
Today, these bergeres are adaptable to any room.
