This elegant antique French Ciel de Lit is parcel giltwood.  It has ornamentation of acanthus leaf volutes, a stylized shell, and laurel leaf supports.  These pieces were essential to the French bed, allowing for magnificent drapery arrangements to be hung  from them at the headboard.   We are also selling the Bergamo fabric treatment made for this ciel de lit in a separate listing.
