Set of Italian Oak Chairs, Late 1800s

This set of eight antique Italian side chairs has been upholstered in a forest green, cut cotton velvet bordered with gimp.  They are made of European Oak with open work ornamentation on their backs.  There are stylized acanthus leaf c-scrolls, volutes, inverted volutes, scrolling acanthus leaves and fleurons.  Turned supports topped with fleurons and finials are on either side with arched, acanthus leaf and c-scroll design.   The original finial tips are missing and holes are now filled. The legs have an inverted decorated cup with turning and rest upon four x-stretchers, with a central decorated finial and small bulb feet. Wheels are on the bottom of each foot.

This hard to find set of eight antique Italian side chairs would be perfect for a large dining table or two smaller tables needing four chairs.
