19th Century European Oak Louis XV Style Vaisselier/Desserte
H=68 3/8, W=66 3/4, D=21 1/4
An Antique Italian Two Part Server with Flat Crown having Conforming Marble on Top ; Open faced conforming side shelving; three drawers, two are “secret” European Oak - Very Good Antique Condition –Crack to two of the marble shelves. - Late 1800’s.
This late 1800’s, European blonde oak, two part server, has a lower than usual height for such a piece. The elegant conforming flat top of marble allows for the display of artwork or an accessory to be placed and seen at eye level.
Today, these hutches can be used for displaying dinnerware or accessories, a cabinet for a television, or simply as a decorative piece of furniture with storage. Not unlike a French Deux Corps, the top section is slightly recessed from the lower section. There are four doors revealing two storage cabinets, a central drawer and two “secret” conforming drawers to either side which are opened by a brass lever hidden underneath the molding. It has two shaped, side wooden shelves on the top sides and two elongated quarter round marble topped curved shelves on the bottom sections.
The very fine and deeply carved ornamentation on this Italian piece is exquisite and will complement any area of the house needing more storage.
