This 19th centurypainted antique French Semainier has painted scenes,  ormolu mounts on the front four corners and a marble top .  The front has seven drawers of equal size for lingerie, one drawer for each day of the week.  The front of the top drawer has a painted motif of intertwining laurel leaf vines with ribbons and flowers. There are two scenes beneath this on the front drawers.  The top scene is of an outdoor Roman architectural ruin, which has been painted on the 2nd,, 3rd and 4th drawer fronts.   The other scene that has been painted on the 5th, 6th and 7th drawer fronts depicts a Roman mythological scene with a maiden holding a triangle towards a playful putto.  The sides have identical motifs of the same top border as is on the front, a stalk of wild roses and an urn.
