An Antique French Louis XIII Style Small Rectangular Table – Walnut Wood – Very Good Condition –Late 1800’s
This antique French Louis XIII style writing table has richly carved ornamentation characteristic of the cabinetmakers of the Normandy region. Its frieze has hand carved grapevines in relief on a patterned field. The left front corner of the frieze has a beetle on a leaf, while the right front corner displays a butterfly. Beneath the frieze, there is openwork ornamentation of grapeleaf vines centered on four sides. It has turned legs and an H-shaped stretcher. The toupies or finial-like ornaments on the stretcher are of grape leaves, and grapes.
This much sought after size table could function as a writing table or end table in any décor.
