Circa 1900

This classic Catalan style dining table from France has been stripped at some point in its history, leaving only slight traces of the old color during the process.  The stylized lyre shaped legs are interrupted by a center post termed a “Leg en Chapelet “ in France or Rosary Leg.  Historically, these symmetrical section were found on pieces of very high quality, as the shape required more time to turn, rather than the spiral posts which could be executed by turning the entire post from left to right in one single turn.  The scrolling central iron stretchers were hand forged .

This Catalan style table from France can accommodate six to eight chairs depending upon their size. Condition: Restorations to legs; age separations.
