Stripped Walnut Wood;  Age:  Late 1800’s

What is so wonderful about this antique French console is the hand carved detail .  Note the bird’s wings and tiny feathered details;  the winged bird with a horses body and hooves surrounding the escutcheon; the peaceful human faces scrolling into a floral and foliate s-scroll which ends in an almost “sweet” dragon’s face-- this motif is also repeated on the sides of the apron.  This antique Henri II also has scrolling oak leaf rinceau on the front drawer with the two birds referenced above and the winged birds surrounding the escutcheon. The baluster turned legs on the front connect the top to the front and side stretchers terminating in stylized ball feet. The back feet are block. There is a bottom shelf between the legs.  The enclosed back has two raised panels fielded by linear moldings. This wonderful console will enhance any home.

Condition: Wood has been stripped at some point in its history.  Very good antique condition.
