An Antique French Iron Base for Pastry Table, Butcher Block, Etc. –Very Good Antique Condition – C. 1880
This versatile French iron base can be used with a traditional marble top to make a pastry/butcher table. Any other type of table top can be used as well. Smaller than most, this decorative antique French iron base will go into any area easily.
The ornamentation of either side is of large s-scroll legs centered with a stylized c-scroll open cartouche bearing the fleur-de-lis at the top and bottom of a stylized iron stem. Decorative iron rods cross the two sides for support. The top rods are usually used as towel holders. The squared off top and bottom frames support the entire piece. The base rests upon four round flat feet.
