Condition commensurate with Age – Three Locks to Front - Old Restorations, nicks, rubs, minor losses of wood throughout Late 1600’s
The iron hardware is all hand forged and has motifs of the fleur-de-lys at the ends of the strapping on the front, sides, and back. The three latch plates on the front depict c- and s-scrolls with stylized florets.  There are two incised half round iron ornaments beneath the 1st and 3rd locks.  The wood on the back has been left unfinished, but you could certainly finish it out easily if needed.  This wonderful trunk could be used at the foot of a bed outfitted with a TV lift or left as is for storage,  as a coffee table, or in any room needing extra storage in a magnificent piece of French furniture.
