SPAIN, Circa 1900

This is a beautifully hand carved Catalan Style desk from Spain.  There are two drawers concealed within the apron beneath a rectangular top bordered by rais-de-coeur ornamentation. The legs are lyre shaped with hand forged crossed iron stretchers ornamented with metal acanthus leaves.  The deep, hand carved ornamentation is in the Baroque manner, with winged angels, smiling and frowning grotesques, griffins, cartouches, scrolling rinceau, beading, volutes, rais-de-coeur and more. Attractive from all angles, this Catalan desk will be an attribute to any room.

Condition:  Rubs and indentations to the top.
