Pair of Iron Shield Sconces-Parcel Verdegres Finish

These fabulous 2 arm French sconces have a demi-lune shape with a shield crest featured on the face. The shield is surrounded by C and S scroll ornamentation terminating in acanthus leaf. The flat back, which attaches to the wall, has two upright fleur de lys on either side. The candle holders have drip plates terminating in buds surrounded by 4 leaves. Each candle sleeve is then held in place by a curved rod encircling the sleeve and drip plate.

These sconces are finished in an "old verde gres". There is some rusting to the metal and we believe them to be c. 1900.
