Pair of Fully Patinated Bronze Louis XVI Style Torcheres
A Pair of antique French, Louis XVI Style Patinated and Gilded Bronze , 12-Torcheres- American Wiring – Circa 1900- Good Antique Condition – rubbing to areas of painted gesso over bronze at base of lighting.
These magnificent French torcheres depict Roman maidens holding urns overflowing with attenuated gilded gesso on bronze acanthus leaves bearing 12 upright lights. They are standing upon a faux painted burled walnut bronze urn shaped base, decorated with gilded gesso over bronze garlands of rosettes tied with ribbons. All this, resting upon four feet: two of brackets bearing a gilded coat of arms with fielded central shield surrounded by curved acanthus leaves, and the other two of gilded, pawed lion’s feet.
For the discerning buyer, this pair of torcheres could grace any entrance, stairway, or mantel in a home with matching formality.
