Pair of Antique French, Louis XV Style, Bronze Dore Table Lamps with Shades |
This beautiful pair of antique French lamps of bronze dore are from the 1800s. The handmade shades have been done recently. The pair features putti peering at eachother while perched upon a mound surrounded by rocaille acanthus leaves, and floral and foliate motifs of varying kinds. There are c-scrolls with beading, gadrooned openworked acanthus leaves, scrolling acanthus leaves with beading, patterned grounds, berries and garlands of flowers done in matte and shiny bronze dore. The chasing on the bronze dore has been done extremely well. The finial is a stylized acanthus leaf ball. The lamps rest upon a shaped and molded parcel giltwood base with red bole underneath. The silk lined shades have been beautifully handmade with tiny pleats ending in pyramidal shapes at the top and bottom of the shade joined with tiny gold beads. There is a ceiling to the shades in the same design which surrounds the acanthus leaf finial. This pair of antique French Rococo style bronze dore lamps will be an attribute to any home. |
