Antique Louis XV Style Giltwashed Floorlamp |
This lovely French floor lamp is in the Louis XV Style and has a shaped glass globe surrounding the socket under the large shade. It could be used with or without the outer shade with a spot for up-lighting or a regular bulb if you wanted ambient lighting. There are also two candlelight sockets beneath the globe for added light. The ornamentation is asymmetrical yet balanced with equal weight of ornamentation so typical of the Louis XV Style. There are gracefully turned acanthus leaves, shells, c-scrolls topped with more acanthus leaves, elongated cartouches with trim moldings, a beautifully twisted open petal housing the socket and a tripod base on scrolled feet. It has an aged gold wash over the wood. This versatile floor lamp can be used in a variety of ways in any room needing more lighting. Condition: Surface grime to gilt wash; minor rub and nicks. The shade simply rests on the glass globe. Small, 1x1 tear in shade. |
