Circa 1880

This magnificent pair of tall antique French European Oak torcheres has been stripped at some point in history.  Traces of gesso and gilding are evident  in the carved recesses and on the relief portions of the ornamentation.   The ornamentation is acanthus leaves, water leaves, fluting, cabling, and large beading. They stand over 6 feet in height with the candle covers.

These large torcheres could be used as floor lamps with suitable shades or reconfigured with large candles,  as they originally were used. Condition:  Traces of old gesso and gilding; minor loss to one acanthus leaf
