This is a very old pair of Neo-Gothic hand made andirons from France. They are in very good condition considering their age. The andirons have been used extensively, so the back sections that were in the fire are worn down as expected. The adjustable hooks that you see along the back were for holding rods which held cooking pots. Today these can be used as decorative fireplace accessories, or of course they can once again be used to support logs or even cooking rods.
