This beautiful 19th century German giltwood mirror in the Rococo style has asymmetrical ornamentation throughout.  The arched top is headed by acanthus leaf, rocaille c-scrolls in varying sizes with trailing vines interspersed with flowers on either side.  The bottom corners have large acanthus leaf open work c-scrolls centered with a single flower.  The arched frame has a very deep incurved unadorned molding surrounded by smaller convex moldings. 

The exuberant ornamentation of the Rococo against the simplicity of the moldings has been kept totally in scale by the maker of the framed German mirror.

Condition:  Old restorations to frame and ornamentation.  Gold leafing needs to be applied in areas.
