Good Antique Condition – (Some elements from 18th C) – Chipping to paint.- some damage to pilasters - Late 1800’s.

This large painted and parcel gilt Italian mirror takes its design from architecture.  It has fluted pilasters with stepped out capitals at the top with facing volutes in between.  The base is thick semi-circles with hand-carved sunflower and leaf décor in between. The paint is a grayish Provence blue with parcel gilt showing in places. We believe some of the elements of this mirror were from the 18th C.

The silvered glass always came in two sections during the earlier periods.  This was due to the fact that they could only makes sections of glass a certain length.  Some of the silvering is missing, which is always more desirable in antique mirrors.
