A French Parcel Paint Trumeau Mirror Made with Antique Architectural Elements of Ornamentation – Back Boards and Mirror are 20th C.- Applied  Elements are Antique – Good Antique Condition – Missing one leaf on top right side and a portion of lower left molding– rubs to paint.

This parcel paint French mirror is made of antique architectural elements of ornamentation.  Framing the mirror are stylized egg and dart, beading, patterned ground, Corinthian capitals, pilasters of symmetrical spirals (found only in pieces of very high quality), crossed ribbons, laurel leaves, oak leaves and water bird motifs .  The finish is an aged cream and grey/blue combination of colors.

Originally, this French trumeau mirror would have been placed over a mantel in a boiserie (French wooden paneled room) of the same design and coloration.  Today, they can still be used over mantels or on any piece of furniture needing a mirror above it.
