A French Antique,  Louis Philippe Style Silver and Giltwood  Framed Mirror, Crowned with Openwork Ornamentation. - Good Antique Condition -Minor rubs to gilding consistent with age; old restorations to cracks in foliage; Mirror has original glass with some loss of silvering- Circa 1900

This elegant antique French Louis Philippe style mirror has been water gilded and painted with silver.  The red bole for the gilding subtly shows through  in areas, and the original glass has the much sought after loss of silvering  verifying it is antique.  Its has hand carved openwork ornamentation at the top.  The center is an acanthus leaf cartouche with a cluster of grapes in the center surrounded by vines of cabbage roses and leaves.

Versatile in their style uses, Louis Philippe mirrors can be used in contemporary or traditional settings.
