French Trumeau Mirror with Antique Elements |
Age: Circa 1850 This French trumeau mirror has been enhanced with antique elements from other periods. The giltwood center acanthus leaf beneath the upper crown molding is probably from the 18th C. and the acanthus leaf scrolls are probably mid 1800’s, but were added to the piece recently. The upper panel bears a musical trophy hung from a beribboned bow and the lower panel has silvered glass which is antique. This trumeau mirror was most likely part of a French boiserie (wooden paneled room)and will enhance any area of the home. Condition: rubs and chips to paint; loss of silvering on glass mirror; minor ornamentation missing to giltwood acanthus leaf. |
