18th Century French Tapestry
This very large Aubusson tapestry was found in a petite private chateau in France. The bottom of the tapestry was inserted into wainscoting (low wooden paneling). It has the classical landscape scenery with castles, village scenes, birds, and abundant teal green foliage. A two tone border surrounds the entire tapestry and a floral border is on the top and two sides.
Overall, it is in good condition. Some areas need repair. The bottom 2nd border is missing, but the tapestry border surrounds the entire piece. Circa late 1700's.
H=8ft. 6in., W=14ft. 6in.
