French Boiserie Panel

This is a beautiful, machine made boiserie insert. Good Antique Condition – Fraying to top areas – It could be modified if necessary. -Late 1800’s. This cheery, scenic French machine made horizontal tapestry depicts a festive village celebration. The colors are earthy muted tans, browns and pale roses. The village is in a valley, with chateaux on the mountainside in the background. There is a river running throughout the village and a waterwheel for grinding the wheat. The pole with a wreath of flowers and torches underneath to the right of center indicates this is a special festivity in the village. The acitivities of the group include people playing musical instruments, drinking and dining, dancing and playing with farm animals. This festive French tapestry will highlight any room and be a wonderful conversation piece.
