These large antique French hunt scene paintings were most likely painted for a boiserie (French wooden paneled room) and inset into two of the panels.   One of the paintings depicts the hunt party on horseback in a forest setting with various dogs eagerly awaiting the hunt with a trumpeter in the background.    The other painting depicts the hunt party in an outdoor forest setting celebrating with a feast of food and wine, while the tethered horses rest in the background.  A greyhound  enjoys a friendly pat on the head in the foreground. The trompe l’oeil frames are part of each panel’s painting.
