Beautiful Pair of Saluki's on Tall Bases

These dog statues are constructed with "reconstituted stone". Reconstituted stone is crushed limestone bound by plastifiers and a minimum of cement.

The saluki is perhaps the oldest known breed of domesticated dog. As a purebreed type, its history can be traced back almost 7000 years. Widely admired for its beauty, speed, and endurance, the Saluki historically traveled throughout the Middle East with nomadic desert tribes over an area stretching from the Sahara to the Caspian Sea. Their original use was for hunting desert gazelles with top speeds of up to 50 mph, the speed claim could be true.

The owner of Le Louvre Antiques, Annick McNally formed a partnership with the family who makes these pieces.  Le Louvre is the exclusive distributor in Texas and top importer for all of their fountains, urns, and other stone pieces.  Please contact us if you are interested.  Thank you, Le Louvre French Antiques
