A Large French Dolphin Fountain Spout /Statue-Reconstituted Stone with Terra Cotta Finish – Very Good Condition –  Reproduction -20th C.

This large French Dolphin can be used in a fountain for a spout or as a piece of statuary, (not using the spout).  In classical ornamentation, the dolphin is an attribute of the Roman god of the sea, Neptune, or the Greek god, Poseidon.  From this, many stylized forms of the dolphin were used throughout the ages in various forms of ornamentation.
